What Does Christmas Taste Like to You?
Blue and I have been doing a lot of baking this year (and I reassure you Mel, that none of the treats we've made were chocolate chip cookies!). I was enjoying a Christmas Holly cookie and stated "This is what Christmas tastes like!" Blue held up his piece of Martha Washington Candy and said, "This is what Christmas tastes like to me!" I wonder which recipe will stick with my girls as their favorite Christmas treat. Just in case you want to try our favorites, here they are:
Martha Washington Candy
2 lbs. powdered sugar
1 stick butter or margarine (not diet) melted and cooled
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups chopped pecans
Mix above and roll into balls approx. 1 inch in diameter
Chill 1 hour in freezer
In microwave, melt 4 squares of Baker's unsweetened
chocolate. Dip balls in chocolate and place on wax paper.
Repeat until all balls are covered. May use up to 2 boxes
of chocolate.
Christmas Holly
3 C Minature Marshmallows
1 Stick Butter (Best to use Butter, not Margarine)
Set on 2 minutes High and Melt in Microwave. If not all melted, Add 1 minute more.
Remove and Stir to a smooth mixture.
Add drops of Green Food Color to a good medium green color.
Add 3-1/2 Cups Corn Flakes and then....Toss, Toss, and Toss until all the Corn Flames are covered. (Don't give up on the tossing, as it takes awhile to cover all!)Then, with a Tblsp drop onto a cookie sheet for holly cookies...or onto a single cake pan, in a circle .. to make a holly wreath.Add the Red Hot Cinnamons in triads for berries.
